Who We Are
Newberry Studio, LLC ("Newberry Studio," "we," "us," or "our") is a Colorado limited liability company that develops mobile applications for musicians. This policy covers all apps published by Newberry Studio, including Rough to Ready ("R2R").
What We Collect
When you use our apps, we collect the following information:
- Account information: Your name, email address, and authentication method (email/password, Google, or Apple Sign-In). If you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature, we store the relay address Apple provides.
- Band and music data: Songs, setlists, events, recordings metadata, proficiency levels, notes, and other content you create within the app. This data is associated with your band's account and is visible to all members of that band.
- Audio recordings: Audio files you record or upload through the app are stored in cloud storage associated with your band's account.
- Sheet music and images: Documents and images you attach to songs (sheet music, album art) are stored in cloud storage.
- Crash and error reports: We use Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports, error logs, and usage breadcrumbs to diagnose and fix bugs. These reports may include device type, operating system version, and app state at the time of the error. They do not include your audio recordings or personal content.
- Subscription information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, your subscription status and platform are stored. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store — we never see or store your payment card details.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the app — storing your songs, recordings, setlists, and events so you and your bandmates can access them
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Send transactional emails (password resets, data archive downloads, invite notifications)
- Diagnose crashes and improve app stability
- Manage your subscription status
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the app.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the app:
- Google Firebase: Authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, and cloud functions. Data is stored in Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States. See Firebase Privacy.
- Sentry: Crash reporting and error tracking. See Sentry Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: Subscription management. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Deezer API: Used to look up song metadata (title, artist, album art) when you add songs. We send search queries (song title and artist name) to Deezer's public API. No personal information is transmitted.
- Apple App Store: Handles all payment processing for subscriptions. We do not receive or store payment card information.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is shared only with:
- The third-party services listed above, solely for the purpose of operating the app
- Members of your band account — all band-shared songs, setlists, events, and recordings are visible to every member of your band
Band Data and Shared Content
R2R is a collaborative app. When you share a song, setlist, or recording with your band, all current members of that band account can view, play, and interact with that content. Private songs and setlists are visible only to you. If you leave a band, your private songs are deleted from the band's account. Band-shared content remains accessible to the band.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:
- Your private songs, recordings, and setlists are deleted immediately
- If you are the sole owner of a band with no other members, the entire band account and all associated data are deleted after a 30-day grace period
- If other band members remain, band-shared content stays with the band
You can request a full data export (ZIP archive) from the app's Profile tab at any time.
Data Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled through Firebase Auth with support for secure OAuth providers (Google, Apple). We enforce per-account data isolation through Firestore security rules — members of one band cannot access another band's data.
Children's Privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — use the in-app archive feature to download a copy of all your band's data
- Correct your data — edit your profile name or band information within the app
- Delete your data — delete your account from the app's Profile tab
- Withdraw consent — you can stop using the app and delete your account at any time
For any data requests we cannot fulfill through the app, contact us at privacy@newberrystudio.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
